WE NEED YOUR HELP

We work with Syrian and Lebanese communities in Akkar, north Lebanon. We are often the first and last resort for families who just can’t afford medical care when there is no other help available. The good news is, we are here and ready to help kids and families in need – and many of these cases are easily solved! We need your help to raise $5000 so we can always be there for these kids and so that mothers dont have to choose between medicine for one kid or food for the others.

THE SITUATION WE ARE FACING

Each week we usually attend to several emergency incidents which may include infections and viruses from drinking contaminated water, bone breaks, burns and other injuries from kids living and playing in unsafe places.

These are just a few from this week;

We took a young boy from one of the refugee camps to the ER this week, he had fallen on a piece of sharp metal, was losing blood and badly needed stitches. His father is a Syrian refugee who is diasbled and struggling to try to provide food and shelter for his small family. Luckily we had our colleague Um Hassan closeby in the camp to advise us we should do an immediate trip to hospital. Without this basic care, the young boy was at risk of blood loss and infection. The $20 the family required would have meant choosing between eating or a trip to the hospital. He is the photo of the boy with broken flip-flops.

A little girl called Rayan, was scolded by boiling milk while at home this week too so we took her to a speciailist and paid for her medicine and we’ll be there to follow-up when she needs more care.

Also this week we finally got Maher his ear operation to save his hearing. We crowdfunded for this last year and due to many of the difficult realities of life in Lebanon these days, it was a long struggle to finally get Maher the care he deserves and to save his hearing!

We currently have 3 cases of ‘Child’s Ankle Orthosis’ we have agreed to assist – if we can pull together enough help – as the UN and other large aid organisations do not cover for such expenses.

We will keep you updated regularly!
